What’s good dream team!
IT’S BEEN A MINUTE.
Sorry I’ve been MIA.
I flew back to NY for my brother’s wedding (beautiful)…
Went on a road trip to Arkansas with my parents (hence, donkeys)…
And am currently in Barcelona going through training for a new job (what?)
BUT…
All that means is over the last six weeks, I gathered some amazing content to share with you.
Let’s get into it!
🎧 Podcasts:
If you aren’t familiar with Arthur Brooks’ work, you’re in for a real treat.
I forced my mom to listen to this episode because it had such an impact on me.
Brooks is doing a podcast tour right now promoting his new book, and the amount of practical takeaways this man packs into an episode is NUTS.
Best/most perspective-changing ep I’ve heard in a HOT minute.
Happiness/Life/Philosophy…just…listen to it lol.
You may not like to nerd out on relationships as much as I do, but if you do, you’ll dig this one.
This guy is one of the most powerful divorce lawyers in NYC, which means he has ALL the dirt when it comes to marriages, breakups, and divorce.
This is a fascinating look into preconceived notions behind what we think causes couples to divorce and what actually does.
No matter how you feel about Alex Hormozi, you gotta admit that man knows business.
I loved this jam session between two guys who are currently changing the game in their respective domains.
If you want to know what life looks like when your knowledge of self is stronger than cultural pressures to conform, you’ll dig this one.
📕 To Read:
I’m taking my “TO WATCH” section and scrapping it this week to have more room of this one.
Because boy, do I have a treat for you 😎
EVERY MAN A MENACE - Patrick Hoffman
I loved Hoffman’s book so much that I read his entire cannon on the road trip to Arkansas with my folks.
No clue how I hadn’t heard of his work before, but if you’re into crime thrillers at all, I can’t recommend his work enough.
The stories are intricately designed, and the characters feel so alive I was disappointed I couldn’t keep spending time with them.
Loved all three of his books, but I’d say start with Every Man A Menace or White Van.
CITY OF THIEVES - David Benioff
Who’s David Benioff you ask?
Oh, IDK THE GUY WHO WROTE THE SCREENPLAY FOR GAME OF THRONES?
EVER HEARD OF IT!?
This man…
This man can write.
When a friend told me about this book I honestly thought it sounded pretty boring.
And on the surface it is:
It’s about two boys in Leningrad during WWII going on an adventure to collect a dozen eggs…
*yawn*
But don’t take my word for it.
Trust the writer of the most successful TV show ever created.
There’s a reason people like that show as much as they do.
The characters are vivid and complex.
And they’re as intricate and enjoyable here too.
🧠 Other:
I’ve been shifting my focus lately from music to writing.
Now that I have a job, I’m going to spend my free time becoming the best writer I can be.
Part of that means publishing.
Getting the words out into the world.
I’d love to publish a collection of short stories, but before doing so, I think I’m going to create a separate Substack specifically dedicated to the creative writing.
This way, I can release pieces on a frequent basis and incorporate lessons as I go.
I’m still learning and hungry to get better.
I hope that publishing more frequently will increase my feedback loop and as a result, guide future work.
But more on that soon =)

Over the next few weeks/months I’ll be publishing on this newsletter less regularly as I figure life out and wtf I’m doing with it (nbd).
Until then, enjoy these books and pods, and thanks for riding with the boy.
Means a lot,
KO
